Rajiv Proposes to Romee at Makapu'u

These two met in New York through mutual friends - Rajiv said, "I think after our third consecutive date together eat pizza, I knew she was the one... she is always upbeat and can brighten my day no matter what." And this guy is pretty awesome himself, he managed to plan this entire proposal from New York and keep it a secret from Romee for about six weeks! Everything - the date, time and place - had been lined up with us thanks to good ol' Skype. Rajiv had made a book to give to Romee that documented all the milestones in their relationship, and while she flipped to the last page (which showed a cartoon of him on one knee), he snuck behind her and waited for her to turn around.

A lot of people think that there's such thing as a "perfect proposal" and we're happy to say that's a total lie. Just like a wedding day, something - it might be the weather, traffic or even an uncooperative significant other :) - will go "wrong."  But it's about setting your expectations to understand that even if you drop the ring thanks to nervous jitters (yes, we've seen that happen) or set your proposal tent on fire (true story, we were also there) none of that takes away from the actual moment! It actually makes it more authentic and memorable. Just a little encouragement to keep in mind if you're about to propose :)

I’m the lady half of Reese and Renee :) Reese and I photograph documentary style, meaning our focus is on emotions and connections between people instead of posing or trying to create moments. Excited and grateful to share some of their stories here!
